Robert Waite, 81, passed away at his home in Lake Bluff on March 22, 2025. Born on May 19, 1945, he was the devoted husband to Susan Waite for 57 years. Bob was the proud father to Kendall (Benjamin) Haight and Christian (Megan) Waite, and 'Grandbob" to Myles and Ainsley Haight and Elle and Luke Waite.
Bob was born in Ridgewood, NJ to Robert and LaRue Waite, and grew up in Evanston IL. He enjoyed playing sports and was very proud of his time spent as a Wildkit on the Evanston High School football team. Bob went to Colgate University and loved his years in upstate New York. He told many a story of his college days and his Sigma Nu fraternity. It was during college that he met Susan on Spring Break in Bermuda and their life together began. They were married after college and together until Susan passed away last December.
Bob lived his adult life mainly in Winnetka, IL. He was a financial advisor and enjoyed interacting with his clients across the country. Bob loved to watch his children's sporting events, from coaching Kendall's softball team to cheering on Chris' New Trier football and baseball teams. Name a game, and he could tell you the players, the highlights, and the result. Bob also enjoyed traveling. He was at his happiest when reading a book on a beach, especially if that beach was on the island of St. Barth.
We will miss him dearly, but take comfort in the knowledge that he and Susan are together once again. Interment will be private.
