Robert Rex Walker, 89, of Rushville, IL passed away at 1:18 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 27, 1934 in East Los Angeles, CA a son of the late Cecil Rex & Margaret Parker Walker. He married Carol Cunningham on April 7, 1990 in Fullerton, CA. She survives along with (2) children; Diane Hicks of Spokane, WA, Lance Walker of Orange, CA, (2) step-children; Dorri Neal & Benny of Lake Elsinore, CA, Michael Morgan & Janet of Las Vegas, NV. (5) grandchildren; Jessica Laird, Tara Jubala & Manny, Caitlin Odiorne & Cody, Quinn Neal & Heather, Haley Morgan, (9) great grandchildren; Alexander Laird, Zachary Laird, Haley Morgan, Taylor Jubala, Jasmine Jubala, Lilly Jubala, Luke Neal, Matthew Neal, Manuel Jubala. He received his Aeronautical Engineering degree at Northup University in El Segundo, CA and then attended graduate school at UCLA. He worked for North American Aviation where he worked on the Apollo Space Program, then worked at Rockwell Engineering before starting his own business, Imperial Instruments. He owned three patents for truck load measurement and did instrumentation for two nuclear plants. He and his wife, Carol, moved to Rushville in 1998 and he set up his electronics business on Congress Street. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee; he was the Treasurer of the Phoenix Opera House and was a member of Rushville Rotary Club. Bob was known for his love of animals especially his multitude of kitties throughout the years. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading. Bob was typically known as "the guy from California" and enjoyed nothing more than being with family and friends. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Rushville United Methodist Church or Schuyler County Humane Society.
