Robert E. Watson Sr., of Endicott, N.Y., passed away at his home of 51 years on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lenore Watson, of Old Forge, Pa.; his brother, Joseph Leonard Watson, of Endicott; and the love of his life for 43 years, his wife, Nancy Watson (often referred to as My Nancy by him). He is survived by his son, Robert E. Watson Jr., Endicott; his sisters, Grace Telesz, of Old Forge, Pa.; and Eileen Conway, of Buffalo, N.Y.; as well as sister-in-law, Margret Watson, of Endicott.
He was member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott. He was a teacher in Johnson City, where he taught math for 30-some years. Students often enjoyed his humor in class, and you could find him shooting hoops in the gym with them after classes. He was an avid car collector; however, his 1953 Ford that he owned in high school and college was his favorite. He enjoyed visiting his friends at Lowes, Advance Auto, Teed's Auto; however, Harbor Freight was his favorite place of all, often coming home with their free gifts, which he would give to those who would visit his house. He was a great storyteller as anyone who met him would tell you.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 24, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott, Tuesday evening, May 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Watson was the first person that helped me to enjoy math. I enjoyed it because he related it to real life experiences and future expectations. I had him as a teacher for a few different levels at the Johnson City High School.
A good man. Rest in peace Mr. Watson.
