Linda Watson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home - Macon on Mar. 31, 2026.
Linda Kay Watson, 75, of Atlanta, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on March 30, 2026.

Linda was born on November 1, 1950, to Roy and Dorothy Holman Carter. She married the love of her life, Andy Watson, on January 27, 1972. Together, they farmed east of Atlanta until Andy's passing in 1987. Linda stayed on the farm for several years before moving to Atlanta, where she ran the Crossroads convenience store and later retired from Wal-Mart.

Linda's greatest pride and joy were her two sons, Darrin and his wife Cari, and Joe and his wife Sarah, all of Atlanta. She was a loving, devoted mom who raised her boys with strength, care, and a whole lot of heart.

Her family meant everything to her. She was a proud grandma to Andrew Steven and his wife, Angel, Kolbey Sue, Kaidyn Shae, Bailey Jane, and Oakley Kay, and a great-grandma to Colton and Huntleigh, with another little one on the way in June. She treasured every moment spent with them-watching them grow, doing crafts together, and making each of them a special quilt they could keep forever. Those were some of her happiest times. Linda is also survived by her brother, Jim Carter of Macon, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy; her brothers, Roy Carter Jr. and Richard Carter; and her sisters, Mary Jo Wright, Emma Tate, and Pat Batye, along with other extended family members.

Linda enjoyed quilting, crafting, shopping for clothes, and traveling. She made wonderful memories visiting Mackinac Island, going on a cruise, and traveling out west to see family. She also had a special place in her heart for her little dog, Lucy.

She was a member of Mt. Zion UMC in Redman, where she found faith, friendship, and community.

Linda will be remembered for her warm heart, her love for her family, and the way she made time together feel special.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO, with Pastor Kathy McLean officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Redman, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Thursday, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund.
