Robert William Watson

Robert William Watson, 72, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, surrounded by his children as he entered into the arms of Jesus.
Born on October 27, 1952, Robert was the beloved son of the late Annie Lois Watson and William Beverly Watson. He was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 51 years, Carolyn Watson, and his sisters, Virginia Rushton, Jean Watson, and Kim Shifflett.
Robert was a proud graduate of Lane High School, Class of 1971, where he was a school choir member and played football. He went on to dedicate 38 years of service to the University of Virginia Hospital Supply Chain, where he was affectionately known by his coworkers as "Sup" Watson.
Throughout his life, Robert had a heart for his community. He coached many youth baseball and football teams and umpired for Piedmont Little League. He continued to support young athletes by volunteering at numerous Charlottesville High School athletic events. A devoted UVA sports fan, Robert rarely missed a game.
Robert's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, Robert Watson II (Dana) and Jamie Watson, and his two grandsons, Robert "Will" Watson III and Benjamin A. Watson, who were the light of his life.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Medi Home Hospice, especially Crystal Fisher, for her compassionate care, as well as Dr. Kunk and his dedicated team at the UVA Cancer Center.
Family night will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Belmont Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at the same location on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Robert will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his lifelong commitment to serving others. His legacy of kindness will live on in the many lives he touched.
