Robert Foxwell Webster, 89 of Georgetown, TX passed away on November 21, 2024, at his home.
Bob was born in Natick, MA to Elna (Brandin) and Carl P Webster on December 7, 1934. He graduated from Chester High school in 1952 and married Ann Erskine in December of 1952.
Bob grew up with horses and began riding at a very young age. He and his family moved to Buttonwood Farm in Chester in 1950 where Bob worked with his dad, training and showing horses owned by Mrs. A S Kelley. As a 15-year-old, he won the New England Saddle Seat Equitation Championship. In the early '60s, the farm transitioned from Saddlebred horses to Quarter Horses, growing to stock some 84 head of horses at 3 properties all located in Chester.
They traveled all over New England and began showing many Quarter Horse Champions, the most decorated being Toppereno. As a team, Bob and "Topper" won the AQHA World Championship Western Riding in '63, '64, and '65 and in 1966 the New England Quarter Horse Champion Pleasure Horse. Bob's other mounts excelled in Reining, Western Riding, Pleasure, Cutting Cattle and Working Cow Horse and Halter as well.
Bob served on the AQHA Board of Directors, and in the '70s became a Show Judge with the AQHA, ACHA (Cutting Horses) and also Paints, judging the largest shows in the Nation including the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio and the World Show in Oklahoma City, OK several times. He trained and showed for other Quarter Horse owners from NH to California and in the '80s, settled in Texas.
He married Joyce Thayer and transitioned to his second career for the Williamson County Jail, attaining the rank of Captain. In a post-retirement job, he continued working in the County Clerks office for some 10 years.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, James Thomas, a sister Jaquelyn Haskell, and a great granddaughter, Amelia Wilkins. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Webster, his first wife, Ann Tupper of N. Springfield, 3 daughters, Daryl Wilkins (Ed), of
Springfield, VT, Debra Rollins (Boyd) of Encinitas, CA, Denise Waters (Gene) of Chesapeake, VA, a brother George Webster of Manchester, VT, 4 grandchildren, Colin Wilkins (Andi) of Rochester, MN, Bethany Laham (Alex) of Hampstead, NH, Melody Ganaway (Danny) of Chesapeake, VA and Jaron Waters (Jessica) of Virginia Beach VA. as well as 6 great grandchildren, Madison, Reese and Aria Laham, Flannery Sutton Wilkins and Carson and Tanner Waters. There are 2 stepchildren, 3 step grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date. Bob will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery and Gardens in Georgetown, TX.
