Robert J. “Bob” Weishan
February 28, 1942 – October 21, 2025
Robert J. Weishan, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 83 after an illness.
Born on February 28, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bob was the youngest of four siblings born to Eugene Weishan and Lillian Schinko. His early years were filled with the warmth and laughter of a close-knit family, and he carried that same warmth throughout his life.
Bob’s career took him around the world, allowing him to share his knowledge, kindness, and humor with people from many cultures. His final professional role was as a professor at the University College of the Cayman Islands, where he worked until his retirement in 2020. Those who had the privilege of working alongside him admired his intellect, dedication, and deep compassion for others.
Bob’s life was one of both adventure and connection. He made his home in several countries—including the United States, Jamaica, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Honduras—collecting friendships, stories, and memories along the way. Known for his love of reading and socializing with family and friends, Bob was a storyteller at heart and could fill any room with laughter and insight.
In 2019, Bob married Maria Rivera in the Cayman Islands, marking a beautiful chapter of companionship and joy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria, and his two sons, who will forever cherish his wisdom, humor, and love.
Bob was a pleasant and thoughtful man whose life reflected generosity, curiosity, and kindness. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
