Robert Joseph Welke

ADRIAN – Robert Joseph Welke passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Born March 18,1926, he joins his parents Fred and Anna, wife Judy, sister Joanne (Floyd) Skikiewicz and many dear family and friends. Bob is survived by his son David (daughters Amber and Amy Welke), Kim (Art Puett) Welke (daughter Megan Schmidt and son Aaron Hill) and Bobbi (Cliff) Washburn (sons Clayton and Ethan). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Malakhi, Caden, Harper and Easton.
After graduating Adrian high school, Bob served his country during WWII through the Army-Air Corps in the Philippines. He returned home, obtained his Bachelor's degree from Adrian College and Masters of Education from the University of Michigan. He taught high school and coached boys varsity swimming for several years. He then married Judy (McClenahen), started their family and created Camp Sequoia; a Children's camp/family campgrounds, located between Adrian and Tecumseh, which is today still serving families, under the care and love of daughter Kim.
Bob was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church for many decades, and took joy in his local and national philanthropic work.
Bob was known for his lighthearted nature and enjoyed being a kid at heart. He will be deeply missed and loved always.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Christ Episcopal Church, 720 Riverside Ave., Adrian, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM, with Rev. John Maguire, officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
