William Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home - Adrian on Feb. 15, 2026.
William R. Turner, known as Bill, age 80, passed away on February 11, 2026. Born in Adrian, Michigan, Bill was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man who truly loved life. He will be remembered for both his honorable service and the laughter he brought to those around him. Bill graduated from Onsted High School in 1963. He answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War and was very proud of his service in the United States Army. He remained deeply committed to his fellow veterans throughout his life and was an active member of the American Legion, where he continued to support and honor those who served. His time in the Army shaped his strength, resilience, and deep sense of duty - qualities he carried with him throughout his life. Bill worked in the automotive industry for his entire career, with time at Chrysler, GT Products, and Eaton. An excellent all-sport athlete throughout high school, Bill carried his competitive spirit and love of athletics throughout his life. He enjoyed playing golf for many years, continuing until it became difficult later in life. He remained an avid sports fan, faithfully watching games and especially looking forward to Sundays cheering on the Detroit Lions. One of his favorite traditions was watching the Lions each week and texting his son during the games - sharing commentary, reactions, and plenty of spirited opinions. William publicly confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Adrian since 2005. His faith was an important foundation in his life, providing him strength, guidance, and hope. While he served his country with courage, he served his family and friends with humor and heart. Bill had a great sense of humor and a love of life that was contagious. He never missed an opportunity to deliver a perfectly timed quip that left everyone laughing. He also had a deep love of cars and enjoyed reading biographies, always eager to learn about the lives and journeys of others. Behind his strong persona was a very sensitive, caring man who loved deeply and showed it through his actions, guidance, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Joan "Dixie" Turner; his children, Ty Turner and Stacey Turner; his stepchildren, Michael Skibinski and Jaclyn Skibinski-Brown; his cherished grandchildren, Madison Turner (14), Kennedy Turner (11), and Sawyer Barker (9); his cherished step-grandchildren, Cainan Skibinski (21), Benjamin Brown (20), Elijah Skibinski (18), Georgie Brown (17), Aaron Skibinski (16), and Hunter Brown (13); and his sisters, Mary Delano and Cherie Wrona. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who were blessed to share in his life. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Georgie Turner, and his twin brother, John Turner. He was a steady presence - strong, dependable, and always there when it mattered most. Though he will be deeply missed, the sound of his laughter and the warmth of his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. Memorial Services will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Pastor Greg Burdine will speak at the memorial service. Military honors will be rendered. www.PurseFuneralHome.com

I always enjoyed our time together as neighbors in Manchester on Sharon Hollow rd. Fun outings and backyard camp fires with lots of laughs. He will be missed but not forgotten. God has a good one. Charlene and myself give our condolences to the family.
