Robert Lee Wheele, 86, died peacefully on Wednesday December 24, 2025 following a period of declining health. He was born on July 22, 1939 in Massillon to Edward & Helen (Burger) Wheele. He was a lifelong resident of Massillon, graduating from Washington High School in 1957. Which is where he met his bride, Carol, who he was married to just short of 66 years, as she passed in June.
Bob served in the Army and did a tour in Korea. Upon his return he worked at First National Bank. Then retired from Ohio Power (AEP).
He was an avid reader up till the very end. Throughout his years Bob enjoyed bowling, counted crossstitch, and taking care of his lawn. He enjoyed spending time with his family & friends any chance he got.
They were the proud parents of 3 children Beth (Dave) Kitchen of Massillon; Amy Wheele of Perry Twp; Steven Wheele (Gena) of Columbus; grandchildren Becca (Rob) Bender; Mitchell (Taylor) Paxton; Sarah Wheele; a great grandson, Sawyer Paxton. Sisters Karen Hogue; and Rosemary Seimetz. Sister-in-law Sally (Fred) Walker; brother-in-law Bill (Betsy) Clauss; cousins; nieces and nephews; many close life long friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol, parents, Edward & Helen Wheele.
There will be calling hours on Saturday, January 10, from 11-12 at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A memorial service will be at noon. We are asking everyone, if possible, to wear red (Dad’s favorite color).
We would like to thank the Brookdale staff & Traditions Hospice, especially Ashley & Aimee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Traditions Hospice, Robert Wheele, 677 H Alpha Dr, Highland Heights, Ohio 44143.
