Robert Earl Wilcox, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed from this life at the age of 95 years and went to be with his Lord on December 15th, 2025. He was a resident of Melissa, Texas.

Robert was born on January 11, 1930 in Craig, Colorado to Charles and Evelyn Larson Wilcox. Being the son of an oil field worker, he grew up near oil patches in Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Loveland Colorado and later from Texas A&M College with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering. He was a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War stationed in the U.S. and in Korea. He previously served in the Colorado National Guard. He was a Boy Scout and later served for 23 years as an adult Scout leader.

He married Joanne Paula Ames of Brooklyn, Wisconsin on May 18, 1951 in Chapel #1 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Texas Engineering and Manufacturing (later to become E-Systems) for 33 years. In retirement, he did mechanical design consulting, model railroading and his favorite hobby – woodworking.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney and was a long-time member of the Lora Ryan Sunday school class and men’s Bible study group. He was also a member of the Melissa Pioneer Club.

He is survived by sons, Douglas Wilcox and wife Dian of Round Rock, TX; Mark Wilcox and wife Susan of Atlanta, GA; Scott Wilcox and wife Mary Lou of Cedar Park, TX; Greg Wilcox and wife Leigh of Frisco, TX; Grandsons Adam, Brandon, Austin and Ethan; Granddaughters, Brooke and Kaia and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Joanne, his parents, two brothers, Charles and Harry, two sisters, Juanita and Bonnie, and a grandson Aaron. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of McKinney at 11:00 AM on January 8, 2026, with a reception/luncheon to follow.

Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:30 AM on January 9, 2026 next to his wife, Joanne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Amarillo TX, or to a charity of your choice.
