Robert Stephen Williams, 75, of New Bern, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
A graveside service to honor Robert’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 18th at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern, officiated by Brenda Odom. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Tuesday, February 17th at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.
Robert was born on May 12, 1950, in Washington, to the late Robert Paul Williams and Helen Mae Williams. From a young age, Robert understood the value of hard work. At just 15 years old, he began working in the steel industry, beginning a lifelong career defined by dedication and hard work. He first worked at Riverside Iron Works, and later he and his brother formed their own steel business. In his later years, he worked for Tarheel Building, where he remained until his retirement at age 62. Robert was known as a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in providing for his family.
Robert was a Godly man who faithfully put his beliefs into action. He ministered to countless individuals through prison ministry and visits to nursing homes, always sharing encouragement, compassion, and hope.
Robert loved the simple, meaningful things in life. He found joy in the outdoors — hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and spending time in nature. He enjoyed shooting his gun and practicing at the target range. Robert loved cooking, especially after retirement when he proudly took over the kitchen at home. He especially enjoyed caring for his animals, including his collection of chickens and ducks.
Robert’s passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda Williams; daughter, Melody Hiller (Scott) of Charleston, SC; brother, Ronnie Ellis (Sheryl) of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Stephen Tyler Williams of New Bern, NC and Josh Hiller and Brianna Hiller, both of South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Skylar and Jace.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela “Angel” Williams, and sisters, Barbara Carawon and Chris Jenkins.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
