Robert J. Willmitch

Youngstown-Robert Willmitch, 76, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born April 29, 1948, in Youngstown, the youngest child of Joseph and Mary Pupino Willmitch. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and Youngstown State University. He taught in the Youngstown City Schools before working at General Motors Lordstown plant, from where he retired.
He was a member of St. Christine Parish. He enjoyed reading and target shooting. His greatest joy was always being designated driver for his siblings, especially his sister, JoAnn.
Robert will always be remembered lovingly by his 10 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews, four great-great nieces and nephews; and his close friends whom he considered family. He will always be remembered as the "fun" uncle, telling jokes, even if they were the same jokes generation to generation. He was quiet by nature but always had a story to tell when asked about growing up as the baby of a large Italian family. He especially liked telling his nieces and nephews stories about themselves when they were young.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Connie (Charles) O'Nesti, Carmel (Robert) Kozesky, Nicholas "Bucky" (Florence) Willmitch, Geraldine "Jerry" (Clarence "Skid") Skidmore, James (Barbara) Willmitch, Mary Louise "Dolly" (William) Wylie, infant, Joseph Willmitch, and JoAnn Willmitch; nephew, David Kozesky; and niece, Laura Skidmore Carson.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the physicians and nurses who were a part of his care, especially during the past 10 months; Dr. Kristen Even-Hymes, Dr. Hazel Bigdeli, Dr. John David Scrocco, Dr. Kathleen Padgitt, St. Elizabeth Youngstown MICU, and Hospice of the Valley.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church in Youngstown on Thursday, August 1, 2024 followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests monetary donations be made in Robert's name to Hospice of the Valley.
