Robert O. Wolfe, 96, of Fremont, OH passed away with his loving wife by his side on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Ottawa County Riverview Hospice Unit. He was born on November 22, 1927 in Fremont, OH to Orson and Roma (Humberger) Wolfe. Bob was a 1945 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and then went on to serve in the US Air Force for twenty years during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War where he was a jet engine mechanic and was educated at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Service School. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Itazuke Air Base in Japan where he was an advisor for the Chinese Nationalist Air Force under President Chiang Kia-Shek for three years. He then worked in the back country of Thailand as a Master Sargeant and was honorably discharged in 1970. Bob received the National Defense Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal w/ the Oak Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp w/ 2, 3 and 4 Loops, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award w/4 Oak Leaf Cluster.

Bob married Rosemary Gaul on October 21, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX and she preceded him on September 8, 1980. He married Roxanne Griffith on March 30, 1985 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Fremont, OH and she survives. Bob was a maintenance supervisor for Peter Eckrich Company and supervisor for Sandusky County Litter Control. He and his wife lived in El Paso, TX for nine years where they both worked with Northeast El Paso Police Department and the US Boarder Patrol with Citizens Academies. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the International Moose, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed American Veterans, Air Force Association, TREA and a life member of the Fremont VFW. Bob enjoyed traveling, a good meal and loved building and fixing things.

Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Roxanne Griffith-Wolfe, Fremont, OH; children, Robert “Butch” K. (Jani) Wolfe, El Paso, TX, Luann Picklesimer, Hamilton, OH, Shayne (Robert) Smith, Monroe, MI; brothers, Burdette Wolfe, Fremont, OH and Herbert Smith, Sandusky, OH; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Rosemary Wolfe; daughter, Rhonda Wolfe; siblings, Harriet Laeng and Lyle Smith.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 9 to 11 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 204 N Wayne St, Fremont, OH 43420.

A Memorial Service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Andrea Thurston will officiate. 

 Burial will take place at Four Mile House Cemetery with Military Honors provide by the American Legion and the VFW.

Memorials can be made in Bob’s honor to Trinity United Methodist Church.
