Robert Wrenn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home - Nashville Chapel on Nov. 6, 2023.
Robert (Bobby) Earl Wrenn, born in New Ulm, Minnesota on April 2nd, 1956, passed away surrounded by his loving children in Franklin, TN, on November 5th, 2023.
Bobby is survived by his sister, Debbie Whitlock (Jim) and nephew Christoper, his devoted sons Michael (Andy) Wrenn, Stephen (Anabel) Wrenn, and Greg (Jodi) Wrenn, and the mother of his children, Teri Wrenn, who graciously cared for and comforted him in his final days. He was a cherished grandfather, known affectionately as "Boppy", to Bennett, Braeden, Brooks, Susie, Dalton, Nolan and Miles Wrenn. He was predeceased by his parents, James Earl Wrenn and Jean Bates Wrenn.
Throughout his life, Bobby demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his profession as a perfusionist, playing an indispensable role in countless lifesaving open heart surgery operations. Beyond his professional achievements, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was casting a line during a serene fishing trip, cheering boisterously for the Tennessee Volunteers, or relishing the moments spent with his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, November 13th from 9am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10am in the sanctuary at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 2015 West End Ave. Nashville, TN 37203.
In memory of Bobby and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for contributions to be made to The Room in the Inn, a cause close to Bobby's heart. Donations can be made through The Room in the Inn website: https://www.roomintheinn.org

I loved Bobby and we were together for 5 years and planning on getting married. I took care of him in the hospital Sept 2023 day and night in Oxford hospital.
He was a loving man and loving father and of course our dogs.
He's free and flying high and one day we will be together again.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I had the pleasure of getting to know him when he worked in Oxford, MS. Such a nice guy. If he wasn't talking about fishing he was talking about his family. May he RIP and my prayers and condolences.

Bobby always had a cheerful attitude and quick smile to share with others at St Thomas.
My favorite memory of him was one summer during a massive cicada outbreak. The hospital building was covered up to the third floor in a swarm of bugs. Talk in the OR that morning was all about what people had seen and experienced. Someone mentioned a news story about a Hillsboro high school student who swallowed one live on tv to win a $5 bet.
Mike Petracek exclaimed "Five dollars!!! I wouldn't do that for less than 50 bucks!" and laughed out loud.
Without a pause, Bobby stood up from behind the pump, opened his wallet, slapped down cash on the pump and said "You're on!!!"
When the case was over, Petracek did catch a cicada and bring it back to the OR so witnesses could attest that he had taken the bet. I think Bobby made money on the deal because everyone chipped in 5 or 10 bucks just for the fun of seeing the dare fulfilled.
