Robert Wright, beloved son of the late Arthur Wright and Cennie Bell Thornton, was born in Worth County, Georgia on March 15, 1946.
He received his formal education in the Worth County School System. "Curly Top," as he was fondly called, had a passion for learning and gained valuable industrial skills that aided him in his future career.
Robert was a man of few words, but his actions spoke loudly. He believed wholeheartedly in family ties and responsibilities and in 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Eddean Keith. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joyous hustle and bustle of nurturing their children and grandchildren. Robert was a devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to meet the needs of his family. He faced every challenge in life with interminable strength and courage, even in the face of unsurmountable odds.
Very early in life, Robert learned the importance of hard work, perseverance, and good work ethics while working on his family's farm-values that he later instilled in his children and grandchildren. A man of many skills and talents, Robert also had a rewarding career with Bob's Candies for more than 30 years. He was an exceptionally conscientious employee who daily poured himself into his work, constantly exceeded department goals, and always gave his very best. Upon retirement, he was lauded for his character, integrity, high expectations, and dedicated service.
While Robert never sought to make a name for himself, he was highly respected wherever he went. Anyone who knew him would agree that he had a servant's heart and always stood ready to lend a helping hand; never asking anything in return. He was proud of his family and he forged many lasting friendships through the years. "Curly Top" was one of the best husbands, fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, and friend anyone could every hope for.
On July 6, 2024, Robert transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest. Although his departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, his wonderful life will forever be remembered. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by by his beloved wife, Eddean; his son, Brian Keith; and his sisters, Lois, Mary, and Madeline.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his children, John (Susie) Keith, Jacqueline (Willie) Jones, Reginald (Rathel) Wright, Darren (Latressa) Wright, Eric (Pauline) Timely all of Albany, GA, Robert (Shekelia Wright, Jr. of St. Mary's, GA, and Calvin (Shawnett) Wright of Lemoore, CA; his sister, Dorothy Brown; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones and Catherine Briley; 30 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
