Robert Yorton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Dec. 9, 2024.
Robert L. Yorton, a man of great humor and skill, passed away on December 8, 2024, at the age of 85, in Lapeer, Michigan. Born on March 18, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, Robert's life was characterized by his thoughtful nature, quick wit, and handy touch.
Robert's early years set the stage for a life of dedication and service. He proudly served his country in the US Army, a commitment that spoke to his strong sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, Robert embarked on a career with General Motors, where he applied his talents until his retirement in 1991. His work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues were hallmarks of his long and respected tenure.
Robert leaves behind his beloved wife, Jill, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt and Mildred, and his sister, Barbara.
Beyond his professional and family life, Robert was an active member of his community. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Post. These associations were not just pastimes but reflected his commitment to fellowship and service.
Robert's interests were a reflection of his personality. He was an avid enthusiast of classic cars, a passion that allowed him to connect with fellow hobbyists thru clubs and create lasting friendships. His humor and ability to fix almost anything made him a go-to resource in his community and circle of friends.
