Eva May Smith

Eva May Smith, a beacon of adventurous spirit and boundless creativity, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Metamora, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 7, 1951, in Lapeer, Michigan, Eva's intelligence and zest for life shone brightly from a young age. She graduated with the senior class of 1969 from Lapeer West High School.

Eva's life was marked by her profound love for her family. She is survived by her children, Christopher Smith, Carrie Jones, and Jaime Smith, who will forever cherish the memories of their mother's unwavering support and infectious enthusiasm for life. Her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, will continue to draw inspiration from her remarkable legacy. Eva's siblings, Arthur Hannah, Howard Hannah, Susie Frederick, and William Hannah, will remember her as the glue that held the family together, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Tipper Smith, and her parents, William and Dorothy (Albrecht) Hannah, who instilled in her the values of love, dedication, and hard work.

Eva's passion for life extended beyond her family. She was a respected member of the Eagles Lapeer, the HOG-Lapeer Chapter, and a certified EMT, dedicating her time and skills to the service of others. Her love for dogs was evident in her success as a breeder of Champion German Shepherds, earning tri-state recognition many times over for her exceptional dogs. Eva's love for the outdoors was unparalleled, whether she was in the wood's deer hunting or on the softball field, where she proudly claimed the title of adult softball league champion.

Eva's legacy is not only in her achievements but also in the countless lives she touched with her adventurous spirit, intelligence, and creative soul. She was a woman who lived life to the fullest, embracing every opportunity with open arms and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Eva's laughter, wisdom, and zest for life will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
