Robert Ernest Zimmermann Sr.

Robert E. Zimmermann, Sr., 80, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 on Christmas morning at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh. He was born January 3, 1945 in Evansville to the late Francis "Frank" and Julia (Zues) Zimmermann.
Bob graduated from Rockport High School where he played quarterback for the Rockport Zebras. He also met the love of his life and future wife, Rebecca Anderson, while attending high school. Bob proudly worked on his family farm until he attended University of Evansville where he earned his bachelor's degree. He was a financial advisor for Wells Fargo for over 50 years and supported his community in many ways. He was a member of Evansville Coin Club, of which he was a past president. Bob was also a very active participant with WNIN Auctions. He was a member of Green River Kiwanis and volunteered at the Evansville Museum of Art and Science and Reitz Home Museum. Bob was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and supported the South Spencer Scholarship Foundation.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rebecca (Anderson) Zimmermann; son, Mark (April) Zimmermann; grandchildren, Robert Zimmermann, III, Anna Zimmermann, Maxwell Zimmermann, Jacob Johnson and Samantha Johnson; great granddaughter, Ellie Zimmermann; brother, Frank Zimmermann; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Zimmermann, Jr.; and brothers, Larry Zimmermann and Hugo Zimmermann.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

The family would like to thank Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehab for their compassionate care of Bob especially Brittany, the rehab unit manager, and also Compassus Hospice for their care, however short it may have been, and Lou Ann Trowbridge for her care of Bob.
