Mary "Rosita" Libs, 92, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. She was born October 31, 1933 in Browns Valley, KY to the late Mary Florence (Thompson) and Proctor Knott.
Rosita graduated from Owensboro High School. She raised a family of four with her husband, Robert. Rosita worked at the family business, Stephen Libs Candy Company and proudly retired at the age of 89. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Rosita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured the time she spent with her family. As a sassy woman with a bold attitude, all she needed was her cigarettes, Fox News and a cup of coffee.
Rosita is survived by her son, Joseph "Joey" Libs; daughter, Lisa (Timmy) Kormelink; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Libs; sisters, Alma Gaw, Kathleen Bolderick and Dorothy Elder; grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Nicholson, Louis (Rebecca) Nicholson, Christie (Carlos) Caballero and Tommy (Kaylee) Libs; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Libs; son, Stephen Libs; daughter, Susan Libs; brothers, Paul Knott, Martin Knott, Walter Knott and Charles Knott; sisters, Marilyn Cavalier, Roberta Knott and Sister Mary Louise; and daughter-in-law, Leta Libs.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2026 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Ted Tempel officiating.
Entombment will be St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Diocese of Evansville, 2111 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN 47711.
The family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice and the Palliative Care Unit 6300 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.
