Roberta Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 27, 2026.
Roberta Florence Kiefer Baker, affectionately known as Bunny, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Auburn, New York. Born on May 8, 1937, in Lansing, New York, Bunny was a beacon of joy and love to all who knew her. Her 88 years were marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. Bunny was the heart of her family; a role she cherished deeply. She is survived by her siblings, Donald A Kiefer, Bruce W Kiefer, and Lauraine E Kostal, her children Sharon Lawton, Karen Witchey (Daniel), Garld Baker (Marylou), Virginia Weathers, Charles Baker (Melinda), Vanessa Clingerman (Richard), and Robert Baker, 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 9 great great - grandchildren. Bunny was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Baker, with whom she shared a beautiful life with and raised their seven children. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Helen, her father, Charles, and her siblings, Margaret, Christine, and Patrick.

A proud graduate of Weedsport High School, Class of 1956, and Bunny's education laid the foundation for the wisdom she shared throughout her life. Her role as a mother and wife was her vocation; she excelled in nurturing a home filled with love, respect, and laughter. Bunny's marriage spanned an incredible 69 years, a testament to her unwavering commitment and love.
Bunny's Christian faith was a guiding light in her life, providing strength and comfort in times of joy and sorrow. She lived her beliefs through her actions, always extending a helping hand and a warm smile to those around her.

Her interests and hobbies were numerous, but Bunny had a particular passion for knitting and sewing. Her handcrafted creations were not only beautiful but also an expression of her love and care. Bunny's dedication to volunteering was admirable, and she devoted many hours to the 4-H program, the Montezuma Historical Society, and the Erie Canal Museum. Her efforts not only enriched her life but also the lives of countless others in her community.

Bunny's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit and the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort those who were privileged to know her. Her legacy is one of love, service, and the simple, profound joy of being present for those around her.

As we bid farewell to Roberta Florence Kiefer Baker, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose and boundless love. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but the impact of her life's work will reverberate through the generations. Rest in peace, dear Bunny, until we meet again.
