Roberta Dale Ellison passed away on October 21, 2025. Dale was born in Rogersville, Tennessee to the late Hubert and Gertie Greene. She attended public school in Claiborne County and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a BA in English. She taught English for 12 years and later worked as a loan officer for a mortgage company. She and the love of her life Joe were married 49 years before his death in 2019. As her husband Joe climbed the corporate ladder and relocations were frequent, Dale chose to become a homemaker and travel with Joe and opportunities arose. With Joe’s work, Dale was able to travel all 50 states including much of the world from Europe to Australia.
Dale was a member of Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club, served on the Library Friends Board at the Hendersonville Public Library, and was a member of a number of book clubs.
In addition to travel, Dale pursued her interests including volunteer work with the library, reading, golf, and bridge. Most of all, she loved her cocker spaniels.
Dale is survived by her sister Gwen Madon; nephews Greg Hodges, Mike Madon, Richard Madon, and Kenneth Madon; and great-nephew Austin Hodges. Special extended family includes Dr. Ed and Cleva Claiborne, and Martin L. Claiborne.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Gertie Greene, husband Joseph M. Ellison, brothers-in-law David Madon and Howard E. Ellison, and mother-in-law Lola S. Ellison.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main Street Hendersonville, TN) on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:00pm in the chapel.
