Roberta Kearns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2025.
Roberta Lee Kearns, age 71 - though she would undoubtedly prefer to be remembered as forever 41 - of Bradford, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
She was born in Winthrop on April 28, 1953, the daughter of the late Alfred and Virginia (Doyle) Burns.
Roberta was raised in the Boston area. The middle child of 9 siblings, a title she proudly held, she was a favorite among them all. Returning to school as a mother, she received a bachelor's degree from Merrimack College and a master's degree from Endicott College. She was a Special Education teacher for many years in the Haverhill and Revere School Systems.
Roberta lived a life defined by generosity, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to those in need. Her home was never just a house; it was a place of comfort, laughter, and open doors. She always had an extra setting at the table, ready to welcome any who needed a meal, a listening ear, or a place to feel at home. Whether it was a friend, a neighbor, or a student in need of extra care, Roberta made space in her heart for everyone. Her legacy of love and compassion lives on in her children and grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons she taught - not just in words but in the way she lived.
Roberta was predeceased by Jack Kearns, her loving husband of twenty-three years. She was also predeceased by her siblings Wayne, Robert, and Patricia, and her grandchildren, Emma and Colton.
She is survived by her loving companion Steve Misenti of Andover. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Veronica S. Bankins of Goose Creek, SC; Micheal R. Kearns and his wife Lori of Milford, NH; Thomas A. Kearns and his wife Kelly Pilger of Brooklyn, NY; and Gwendolyn A. Corr and her husband Patrick of Groveland. She is also survived by her siblings: Jack, Pamela, Kathleen, Maureen, and Denise. She was the loving Nana to John, Doyle, Bryar, Madeline, Xavier, Jack, Caroline, Grace, and Kai. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Monday, Feb. 17, from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM at Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in the Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Elmwood Cemetery.
In honor of her vibrant spirit and love for all things fun, we ask that in lieu of flowers, you consider donating to these Amazon wish lists. The Barbie dolls and toys will be gifted to young patients at Boston Children's Hospital, bringing a little extra joy to their toughest days-just as our mom would have wanted. My deepest condolences to the Kearns Family. Roberta and Jack have known my family the Strangmans/McAninches/Bergerons for many many years from SHS or the Bradford Swim Club. Roberta always greeted me with a smile on her face and a story about her kids or asked about mine when I saw her at Card Smart. May she be reunited with Jack and at peace now.
Thinking of you all during this difficult time.
