Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors - AmarilloAugust 9, 2025, our ‘Mother’, Roberta LaVerne Littlefield was gracefully called Home to be with the Lord, who she faithfully served for her lifetime of 91 years.
Mother was born on September 6, 1933, in Goldston, Texas to Robert and LaVerne Barrett and was the oldest of their 3 children.
Due to Mother’s family being somewhat nomadic, she received two High School Diploma’s. One from Clarendon High School and the other from Phillip’s High School. While at Clarendon she met ‘Daddy’, Duane Littlefield in Bible Class. She became a ‘Wife’ when they were married on November 30, 1951. After 2 years of being the ‘Wife of a Soldier’ while living in Georgia and France, they moved back to Goldston where she became the ‘Wife of a Farmer’. While living in Goldston she became a ‘Fulltime Mother” when they were blessed with 2 children, Regena in 1953 and Dennis in 1955. In 1956, the family moved to Amarillo for Daddy’s work where she became the ‘Wife of an Auto Mechanic’. In 1959 she became a ‘Mother’ again when they were blessed with their 3rd child Brent. In 1960 her nomadic journey ended when they moved to a home on the Fritch Highway where Daddy opened his mechanic shop and they lived for 50 years.
Mother’s priorities were loving the Lord while being a supportive, caring, and loving Wife, as well as being a nurturing, supportive, caring, and loving Mother who was always there for us. She found many ways to maintain those priorities while also helping Daddy support the family. In 1962 she became a ‘Bus Driver’ for Amarillo Christian School where Gena and Dennis attended while taking Brent along for the bus ride. In 1964 she became a ‘Secretary’ at North Seminole Church of Christ where we attended. In 1966 she became the ‘Secretary’ at Highland Park School where Gena, Dennis and Brent attended. After receiving her Cosmetology License in 1969 she opened her beauty shop at home. In 1972, after several years of Cosmetology, she became a ‘Store Owner’ when she began selling Frankoma Pottery at the family home. While continuing to sell pottery, she became a ‘Sales Representative’ for Home Interiors in 1975. Mother and Daddy wanted to work at home, so they were there when we got off the school bus.
Mother enjoyed summers at the lake and sitting on the bleachers and cheering at ball games while never being without her camera. Later in her years, she loved playing Bridge, teaching Bible classes to small groups, socializing at Senior Citizens and watching her grandkids play ball. Through it all, God could not have given us a more dedicated, sacrificial, loving, wonderful, beautiful, fun loving ‘Mother and Wife’ than she was.
Mother was preceded in death by her parents, as well as Daddy after 70 years of marriage. She is survived by her brother Charles Barrett and wife Linda and sister Aliene Kuhn.
She left behind:
Three children: Daughter- Regena Ladd and husband Max, Son- Dennis Littlefield and wife Tonja and Son- Brent Littlefield, Eight Grandchildren: Matthew Ladd and wife Angie, Keena Ladd, Mark Ladd and wife Susan, Micah Ladd and wife Heather, Tisha Morris and husband Daniel, Golden Littlefield and wife Casey, Lacye Crumpton and husband Jacob, Brad Littlefield and wife Laurel, 21 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
