Roberta "Bobbie" and William "Bill" O'Reilly, of Long Grove, Illinois, passed away days apart, after 60 years of devoted marriage. William was 83; Roberta was 80. Their lives were marked by unwavering love for one another, deep devotion to their family, and an especially strong shared commitment to serving the community.

Both were born in Chicago, Illinois, attended New Trier High school, and spent most of their married lives in Buffalo Grove and Long Grove, where they raised their children and became deeply woven into the civic and social fabric of their communities.

William built a successful career as a food broker before transitioning into real estate in Long Grove. He served as a member of the Buffalo Grove Park District Board, playing a vital role in building the Park District to better support baseball and soccer by building the ball fields throughout the community- a legacy that continues to enrich the lives of families throughout the area.

Roberta also thrived in real estate and made her mark through decades of community service. She served on the Village Boards of both Buffalo Grove and Long Grove, as well as on the Lake County Board. She was active in the Long Grove Historical Society, the Lions Club, and the Boy Scouts. Known for her love of dogs and her sharp skill at the bridge table, Roberta brought heart and discussion to everything she did.

Together, Bobbie and Bill were admired for their dedication to serving the community.

They are survived by their sons, William (Sara) and Douglas (Sharon); and by their four beloved grandchildren: Elle, Conner, Jonathan, and Caitlin, and many nieces and nephews. Their legacy lives on through their family and through the many lives they touched in their community.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24 at 10:30am at St. Mary's of Buffalo Grove, 10 N Buffalo Grove Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL. A Celebration of their lives will be held Thursday, July 24 at 3-6pm at Buffalo Creek Brewing, 360 Historical Lane, Long Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Long Grove Historical Society or the Humane Society-organization close to their hearts.
