Roberta Ortiz-Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverside Funeral Home - Albuquerque on Jan. 6, 2026.
Bobbi Ortiz-Stevens passed away peacefully at her beloved home on December 15, 2025, a place she filled with warmth and welcome for all who entered.

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on December 22, 1957, Bobbi was the fourth of eight children to Joe Frank and Teresa Ortiz. She grew up in a lively, faith-filled household where love and laughter were abundant.

Bobbi is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Debbie Ortiz.

Bobbi is survived by her husband Kelly Stevens; her daughters Tayna Edmonds (Richard, grandsons Ryan and Sean) and Tara Simpson (Jamaul); and her siblings Jerry Ortiz (Sheryl), Micki Fauteck (Mark), Cathy Sanchez (Gilbert), Steven Ortiz (Joanne), Renee Fresquez (Chris), and Lynn Cote (Chuck).

Throughout her life, Bobbi cherished friendships that spanned from childhood into adulthood. After moving to Albuquerque as a young woman, she built a career as an administrative professional, serving primarily in health care and education. Most recently, she worked at St. Therese Catholic School, where her dedication and kindness touched many lives.

Bobbi was married to Kent Freier from 1983-2001, and together they raised two daughters, Tayna Marlene and Tara Michelle. She was a devoted mother, instilling in her children a strong Catholic foundation and ensuring they received a faith based education. Bobbi's commitment to her daughters was unwavering-she supported their school and extracurricular activities, often working multiple jobs or late evenings to be present for them. She was, in every sense, always there.

Bobbi married Kelly Stevens in 2010, and together they made their home in the Ventana Ranch neighborhood, where they built lasting friendships with neighbors and enjoyed a close-knit community.

Known for her feisty spirit and infectious laughter, Bobbi brought joy to those around her. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and treasured friend.

Services for Bobbi will be held on Monday, January 19th, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:15 a.m. Following the Mass, Bobbi's husband and daughters will host a reception at her home for those who are able to attend. Please contact Tayna for the address.

To my dear cousins I am so so very sorry to hear about the passing of Bobbi. She really was a generous and caring beautiful person. I wanted you to know of a memory me and her shared, I was a teen parent (1988 ) she gave me a baby shower with my sister Bunny. What a wonderful gift to be there for a scared teen mom. I will never forget her generosity and kindness. I loved her dearly and am so sorry for your loss. I am praying for you all. May the Lord bless you and give you grace, strength, and peace. I love you all, Ronna Garcia and family Dorothy´s youngest

Bobbi.
You were a favorite. Favorite Auntie; said all 5 of my boys. Favorite sister, and sister n´ law to me and Chuck... You were real, not fake and we all loved that about you, you made us laugh at your crazy stories, and sense of humor. (The last story you told me was the one with you and Kelly on your e-bikes. I couldn´t stop laughing.) we are gonna miss you tremendously. I´m gonna continue to pray for your soul, and for your girls and Kelly that God brings comfort to them.
Love you big sister! Lynn, Chuck, and the B-boyz.
