Roberta K. "Bert" Weber (née Fischer), age 69, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Westlake, Ohio. Born on March 31, 1956, in Garrett, Indiana, Roberta lived a life defined by resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
A proud graduate of East Noble High School in Kendallville, Indiana, Class of 1974, Roberta began her lifelong journey of service and support shortly thereafter. She first made her mark at TRAA (Three Rivers Ambulance Authority), where she ensured the office ran smoothly-a role that set the tone for a career centered on helping others. Her professional path led her to juggle two demanding roles: part-time as Executive Assistant to the Director of the Emergency Room at Parkview Hospital Randallia and full-time with the United States Postal Service. At USPS, she served as a Data Conversion Operator before transitioning to Mail Processing Clerk until her retirement. Her work ethic was unmatched-driven by purpose and fueled by love for her family.
Roberta's heart belonged to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her son Matthew (Rachel) Montel of Garrett, Indiana; daughter Ashley (Brandon Ward) Dubois of North Ridgeville, Ohio; grandsons Gage (Nashali Moreno) Steffe of Lorain, Ohio; Isaiah Montel of Garrett; Brayden Mercer-Steffe of North Ridgeville; granddaughters Grace Montel of Garrett; Abigail Ward and Gabriella Ward both of North Ridgeville; and a great-granddaughter due this month, Kehlani Ellen. She also leaves behind her brother Steven Fischer of Avilla, Indiana; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and strength.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Victoria (Case) Fischer; her husband Nick Weber; brothers Thomas Fischer, Charles Fischer, Donald Fischer; and sisters Jeanette Fischer, Pearl "Irene" DeLong, Delores Lamb, Barbara Hippenhammer, Ruth 'Ruthie' Ihrie, Nancy Lamb, Alice Huth; and the love of her life Harry 'Louis' Steffe.
Roberta was a woman whose presence could light up any room. Known for her spitfire personality and ever-ready smile-often paired with a quick hello or heartfelt conversation-she had an uncanny ability to make people feel seen and supported. Her fierce love for those close to her was evident in everything she did.
A gifted poet, Roberta used writing as both an outlet and a bridge-expressing life's joys and sorrows through verse that resonated deeply with those fortunate enough to read it. Her poetry offered comfort and connection-a reminder that no one walks alone through life's challenges.
In later years, Roberta found peace in quiet moments at home. Many days were spent outdoors with Mia, her loyal canine companion by her side. These simple pleasures brought serenity after a lifetime spent giving so much to others.
Her Catholic faith remained a cornerstone throughout her life. Even during difficult times, Roberta held tightly to her beliefs-a testament to the strength that carried her through adversity with grace.
A Graveside Service and Interment of Ashes will be held on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1605 S. Center St. Auburn, Indiana 46706. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose legacy is one of love fiercely given and strength quietly borne.
May Roberta's memory bring comfort to all who knew her-and may we carry forward the lessons she taught us about perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love.
