Roberta "Bobi" Jordan Winkler, RN of Hawley passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025. Bobi, known and loved as Mom, Nana, or Nana Banana, was a strong, intelligent, and deeply compassionate woman whose warmth and steady presence touched everyone who knew her. Born on February 8,1941, in Mount Carmel, she moved to Hawley at the age of five, where she would build a life rooted in family, hard work, and community.
Bobi had a rare gift for making people feel supported and cared for, always showing up with loyalty, generosity, and quiet strength. Throughout her life, she met both joy and hardship with grace, courage, and admirable resilience. Over the last 27 years, she battled numerous medical challenges with determination and dignity, never losing her devotion to those she loved.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Bobi graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and went on to serve as an Operating Room Nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her nursing career. Alongside her husband, Bill, she helped own and operate a motel, multiple restaurants and taverns, and three construction companies throughout the Hawley and Mount Pocono regions-endeavors that reflected her strong work ethic, versatility, and perseverance.
Bobi shared an extraordinary love story with her husband, William "Bill" Winkler. High school sweethearts, they were together for 72 years and married for 64, building a life defined by partnership, devotion, and mutual respect. They were devout Catholics and married at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley.
Above all else, Bobi loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. She was the anchor of her family and a constant source of strength through every season of life. In ways both big and small, she held everyone together with love, wisdom, and unwavering support. Her greatest joy came from caring for others, and her influence will continue to be felt through the lives she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Winkler of
Hawley, PA; her daughter, Raeann Winkler Gembis and partner Maurice Bombrun of Chelmsford, MA; and her son, Michael "Mike" Winkler and wife Michelle Winkler of Old Hickory, TN, as well as many extended Winkler family members.
