Roberta Wittman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis-Becker Funeral Home - Boardman on Feb. 3, 2026.
Boardman - Services will be at Noon this Saturday at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman for Roberta Rumberg Wittman, 80, who passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland.

Bobbie was born on October 29, 1945 in Cleveland, a daughter to George Carl and Mary (Kelly) Rumberg and baby sister to Barney (Connie) Rumberg and John Rumberg. The family moved to Youngstown shortly after her arrival and took up residency on Alameda Ave. on the north side. The 1963 graduate of Rayen High School continued her education at Youngstown University. She followed in her mother's footsteps by taking pre-nursing classes but later transferred to business with a focus on secretarial and business administration. This is where she met her husband, William D. Wittman, and they married while still in school.

After being a full-time mother and homemaker, she was able to pursue her career in business. She started in the accounting office of Photogenic Machine Company, where she worked for many years. She eventually returned to Mahoning Paint Corporation as office manager to work alongside her brothers and husband. She took great delight in her grandsons' lives after retiring in 2006. From Boardman Community Baseball and band concerts to lacrosse games and TOP Soccer in Cortland, she rarely missed an event. Her schedule was further filled with her dedication to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Above all, family was always at the center of her world. Bill was her true love and the great constant in her life until his passing in 1999. She found joy in both the simple and the meaningful, and her days were often filled with friendships, creativity, and activities she truly loved. She enjoyed working in her garden, refinishing furniture, and would find time for playing golf and bridge. She cherished time spent with those she loved and especially enjoyed traveling, either annually to Siesta Key with friends and family or her cross-country pilgrimage on Route 66.

She attended Boardman United Methodist Church and found fellowship and giving back to the community through her volunteer work with their annual Trash and Treasure sale. It is also where she remained active with her grandsons in scouting activities with Pack 27 and Troop 46, becoming a three-time Eagle grandmother.

She leaves behind her sons, Bill (Amy) Wittman, Jr., and Don (Vickie Davis) Wittman, and her grandsons, Matthew, David, Aidan, and Brennan Wittman, to cherish her memory. Besides her parents, husband, and brothers, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Garrett Wittman.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, before her service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Boardman United Methodist Women (BUMW), 6809 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512 in her memory.
