Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carpenter's Funeral Home - Corning on Dec. 31, 2025.
Robin Claire Hill, 67, of
Savona, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 26, 2025. Born on November 14, 1958, in
Urbana, NY, Robin was the beloved daughter of Clinton Barkley and Donna Polmanteer Barkley.
A lifelong member of the Savona community, Robin graduated from Savona Central School in 1977. She began her career at Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post but found her true calling as an educator. She served at Savona and later Campbell-Savona Elementary School for 32 years, where she brought out the very best in her students, especially those who needed her most. Robin was a perpetual champion of the underdog. Outside the classroom, Robin was a devoted Episcopalian at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Savona, where she lived her faith through service and care for her community.
Robin was predeceased by her father, Clinton Barkley; her brother, David L. Barkley; her father-and mother-in-law, Richard L. Hill IV and Mary Catherine Hill; and her son, Richard L. Hill VI. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Richard L. Hill V; her mother, Donna Polmanteer Barkley of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter, Emily Hill of
Savona, NY; her son, Evan (Jason) Hill of Scottsdale, AZ; and her cherished grandchildren: Nathan Gleason, Richard Liam Hill VII, Meara and Keagan Mehlenbacher, and great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Gleason. She also leaves behind her sister, Elaine (Jerry) Scanlon of Jacksonville, FL; many beloved brothers-and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Quick with a joke and never one to mince words, Robin lived life entirely on her own terms. Her wit was unmatched, perfectly sarcastic yet deeply kind to those who earned it, and her humor, her sayings, and the songs she loved will echo in the hearts of family and friends for years to come. Her nieces and nephews remember Robin as so much more than an aunt. She was a constant and comforting presence and a source of endless laughter, often described as the cooler version of a mom. That same steadiness and warmth were felt just as deeply by her grandchildren and by the many students whose lives she touched over the years. A firecracker full of life and a straight shooter who always spoke the truth, Robin was bold and hilariously witty, yet her heart was enormous and tender. She made those close to her feel safe and deeply cherished, leaving each person with the unshakable knowledge that they were loved.
Robin's legacy is one of laughter, strength, faith and unwavering love. She will be missed beyond measure but remembered with joy by all who were fortunate enough to know her
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Friday, January 2, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, with a service immediately following at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney Street,
