RUTLAND - Robin Gail (Thomes) McGuirk of Rutland, formerly of Holden, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a courageous and long-fought health battle on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Robin is now eternally healed and alive in Heaven because of the gift of salvation she received from Jesus Christ.
Robin was predeceased by her parents, Rodney L. and Norma E. Thomes. She leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of nearly 46 years who cared for her faithfully until her last breath, Patrick C. McGuirk; daughters Alison G. Graham of Holden and Melissa J. Fiske and her husband, Matthew, of Holden; ?ve beautiful grandchildren whom she adored, Madelyn and Emma Graham, and Mikayla, Matthew "JD" and Maddox Fiske; sisters Cynthia J. Laslie and her husband, Ronald, of Cumming, GA and Julie A. Chaves and her husband, Richard, of Hudson, MA; sisters-in-law Joan P. McGuirk and Charlotte I. McGuirk of Worcester, brother-in-law, Michael McGuirk (late Ronalie) of Washington, as well as several precious nieces and nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Robin was also predeceased by ?ve brothers-in-law, William (Eleanor), John (Arlene), Brian, Daniel, and Joseph (Linda) McGuirk and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Donovan (Kevin); parents-in-law, William and Irene McGuirk; and a beloved niece, Kerri Dusombre.
Robin was a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and longtime member of Heritage Bible Chapel in Princeton, participating in regular worship, women's bible studies, fellowship opportunities, and the meals ministry. She was an incredible encourager to others, often sharing her faith with family, friends, and anyone who crossed her path - especially at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham & Women's Hospital, and UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
Raised in central Massachusetts, Robin graduated from Hudson High School, before working at New England Telephone where she met and fell in love with Patrick. The two were wed October 1, 1976 and had a beautiful marriage that has set an example for their children and grandchildren, as well as everyone who knows them. Robin was a stay-at-home-mom for many years, and then worked as the classi?ed ad manager at The Landmark newspaper for 9 years and was the Office Manager at Miles Funeral Home for 18.5 years. Robin loved to take day trips with her family and was very intentional about investing in the lives of her precious grandchildren. She loved walking or biking the Holden rail trail, kayaking at Comet Pond, strolling the Marginal Way along the ocean in Maine, having "Sunday dinners" with her family, baking with her grandchildren at the kitchen island, snagging the best deals on the Talbots clearance rack, and showing up at as many of her grandchildren's games, plays, concerts, and important events as possible.
Robin is remembered for her strong and abiding faith in her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; her deep love for her husband, children, and grandchildren; her gregarious nature; and her kind and intentional encouragement of others. Robin's family would like to thank her amazing care team, especially Dr. Kim and Dr. Abel at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, as well as Dr. Brettler and Dr. Patel at UMASS, all the nurses at the UMASS infusion center, and the many amazing medical professionals who have treated her over the past many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robin's family at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, on Friday, August 12th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service honoring God's faithfulness in Robin's life will be held at Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Road, Princeton on Saturday, August 13th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Holden.
