Robin O'Reilly Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Robin K O'Reilly, age 78, Joplin, Thursday September 18th, 2025. Robin loved life and was the fighter of private battles and had a rare strength to her. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran, and her faith was very important to her. Robin was a friendly conversationalist and remembered details about the lives of bank clerks and salespeople and had a way of making everyone around her feel seen. She always made time for people and could easily fill a day with the simple joy of company and good story telling.

Robin was born in Pittsburg, CA on May 9th, 1947 to the late Robert and Edith (Thompson) McAvoy. She spent her childhood in Antioch, Sacramento, and Chico, CA. She graduated Chico High School and attended Chico State University where she majored in German. Robin's first job was at Chico State translating texts from German to English.

Robin married Tommy Brannan on May 23, 1969. They had one child, Michael Brannon before Tommy died in 1970. Robin married James Martin O'Reilly on June 4th, 1977. Robin and Jim were married 47 years, until his death in 2024. Together they had four children and 8 grandchildren. Robin loved her family fiercely.

Robin was proceeded in death by Tommy Brannan, her parents Robert & Edith McAvoy, her sisters Pamala Bartles & Teri Coleman, her husband James O'Reilly, and her son Patrick (PJ) O'Reilly.

Survivors include her brother Brien McAvoy; children Michael Brannan, Robert & Marsha O'Reilly, Jaime O'Reilly, and Ryan & Teresa LeAnn O'Reilly; grandchildren Avila O'Reilly, Marlon O'Reilly, James Riggen, Norah Mitchell, Stevie Mitchell, Emmett O'Reilly, Miles O'Reilly, and Isla O'Reilly.

A combined service for Robin, Jim, and Patrick will be held at 10am October 11th, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin.
