Robin A. Thompson (née Bickell), age 65, of Oakhurst, NJ, passed away unexpectedly at home from cardiac arrest on August 2, 2025.
Robin was born in Jersey City, NJ, and grew up in East Newark. She graduated from Harrison High School (Class of '77). After graduation, she and her parents moved to Keansburg, NJ, where she attended Monmouth University, earning bachelor degrees in Elementary Education, Speech and Theatre (Class of '81). Before starting her professional career, Robin worked as a bartender at various nightclubs-an early reflection of her vibrant and outgoing nature.
In 1987, she began her career at OUTQ Advertising, where she remained until 2004. That year, Robin took a leap of faith and launched her own advertising company, OMNI Media Group, which she ran successfully until her passing.
Robin married Tracy B. Thompson on April 10, 1993. They shared nearly three decades of devoted companionship until Tracy's passing in 2022.
Robin was known for her strength, independence, and unwavering ability to take care of the people she loved. A true social butterfly, she could talk to anyone about anything and saw everyone she met as a potential friend. She had an exceptional memory and was a natural storyteller, always weaving humor, warmth, and nostalgia into her tales. Her inside jokes became part of the fabric of her relationships, connecting her to others in a uniquely personal way.
She was the life of every party, always ready with a glass of cabernet and a trip to Atlantic City on her mind. The casino lights and lively atmosphere brought her joy-but her happiest moments were always at home with her beloved fur babies. Robin was a fiercely protective dog mom, and treated every pet she had like royalty (actually, she was this way towards animals that were not hers too – like the neighborhood deer and yard cats!). Her niece Victoria affectionately called her the "Snow White of Oakhurst."
Robin proudly wore the title of "Fun Aunt." She celebrated the accomplishments of all her nieces and nephews with joy and genuine pride, speaking of them often and lovingly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tracy B. Thompson, and her parents, William and Katie Bickell. She is survived by her cherished dogs, Winnie and Sunshine; her nieces, Robin McCormick, Jamie Aldridge, Maria Thompson, and Victoria Thompson; and her nephews, Chad and Ryan Aldridge. She also leaves behind her in-laws: James and Melissa Aldridge, and Ann Thompson, along with extended family members.
Robin is also survived by her best friends: James (Diane) Marttine, Beverlie Dungan, Michele Warden, Lori Larson, Patricia Hayes, Terri (Eric) Stenson, David Napp, and so many others who she loved and cherished very much.
Robin will be remembered as a generous, kind-hearted woman and a true friend. We imagine her now-laughing somewhere in heaven, with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of cabernet in the other. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13th from 4-7 pm with words of remembrance at 6:30 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 11 am at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Robin to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St, Eatontown, NJ 07724, https://monmouthcountyspca.org.
