Robin West Whittle, 62, of Parowan, Utah, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
Robin was born on March 2, 1961 to goodly parents, David and Phyllis West, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was raised on fresh air, fruit and vegetables from the family orchard and garden, milk and cream from the family cow, and raspberries she picked during her summer job to buy school clothes. The seventh of nine children, she learned from a young age to work hard and pitch in happily. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1979.
She continued her education at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Development in 1983. During that time, she completed a study abroad in Israel, which she loved to talk about her entire life. She also took skydiving lessons.
She met Mark Monroe Whittle at a dance during her time at BYU. When Mark saw Robin, he knew she was the one he would marry. They were sealed for time and all eternity shortly after in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 18, 1981, and spent the first several years of their marriage in Utah, raising two sons, with Robin teaching.
In 1988, they made the momentous decision to move to Brawley, California. At first, she missed the mountains, but Brawley and the people there soon became home. They added 4 more children to their family while there.
Robin squeezed every activity and extracurricular she could find out of Brawley for her children - piano lessons, city sports, swim team, space camp, violin, marching band, school sports, summer reading programs, summer camps, church activities, scouts, and more. In 1998, the family began annual camping trips to Yosemite. Some favorite memories are jumping off the rock, waiting up for bears, hiking Half Dome, and floating the ice-cold river. She was a meticulous planner and exceptional homemaker. She prepared what seemed like a 3-course meal around the table every night.
In 1998, Robin returned to teaching full-time. Over nearly 3 decades, she has taught and loved hundreds of children in grades K-3 in California and in Utah. She was most recently a first grade teacher at Iron Springs Elementary in Cedar City. She truly had a teacher's heart - selfless, loving, and kind.
She filled her time serving others and leading by example. She was an unwavering disciple of Christ and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She never thought of herself first. She was always thinking of how she could help someone else. She was known for reaching out to the sad, lonely, and downtrodden. After her children left, she had a hard time cooking for just 2, and she would often show up on the porch of someone in need with dinner for them. She tended her garden with zeal so she could take tomatoes and zucchini to the bachelors, widows, elderly, and sick people in her community. Her faith was great, but also simple. She loved family history, temple work, gardening, and spoiling her grandchildren with clothing, educational materials, and books.
She is survived by her husband and her children - Adam (Adrienne), Aaron, Heather (Jonathan), Brittany (Braydon), Julia (Ammon), Jason (Belen), Heather and Jared Collier - and 20 (soon to be 21) grandchildren.
There are no words to express the sorrow we feel at our wife and mother's untimely passing, but her life speaks for itself. She was the embodiment of what it means to be a perfect mother. Everything she did in life, she did well. She set the standard very high. You have shown us by example the way to live our lives. You have given us your love, and we could not ask for more. Matthew 6:21
There will be a memorial service at Parowan Stake Center (90 S. Main St., Parowan, UT 84761), on Saturday, January 20, at 1 p.m.

I had the honor of doing this beautiful ladies hair for the last nine years. She truly was Christ like. Always sharing beautiful stories. The last visit we has she was truly worried about her sweetheart and the passing of his mom. And at the same visit anticipating a girls weekend with her girls. She had a true love for her family.Although I never met them I heard about different ones on each appointment. She was a truly pure and Beautiful woman. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to her sweet family.
