Clair Decker Benson 91, of Parowan Utah, passed away on November 17th after a long and fulfilling life.
Clair was born on January 23, 1933, in Parowan to Richard (Dick) and Pearl Benson. He attended and graduated from Parowan High School, then attended for 1-year B.A.C. (currently SUU) in Cedar City. Clair joined the US Air Force in December of 1952, during his enlistment he met his wife to be Patricia Hines, and they married on December 15, 1956. During their 68 years of marriage, they had three children Garry, Tammy, and Connie.
Clair worked with the City of Parowan as an electrician, and the Parowan Airport (ParoAir). After retiring from the city, he opens a small engine repair shop. He loved working on small engines and visiting his neighbors. You could find him during the warmer months sitting outside on the front porch of his home talking to people as they passed by.
Clair was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is predeceased by his parents Richard and Pearl, and his brothers Keith, Wayne, and Elwood Benson.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, his three children Garry and Deanna, Tammy Benson, and Connie and Todd Simkins. 6 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
A viewing will be held on Thursday November 21st from 5pm to 7pm at the Southern Utah Mortuary in Parowan. A short viewing from 11:30am to 12:30pm and remembrance service at 1pm will be held on Friday November 22nd at the mortuary. The burial will be at the Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
