Jack Strosnider Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Aug. 13, 2025.
Jack Edward Strosnider, 86, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, in Cedar City, Utah. Born on May 16, 1939, in Torrance, California, to Nova "Orville" and Alta Strosnider, Jack grew up with a strong work ethic, a boundless curiosity, and a love for life's simple joys.

On January 30, 1965, Jack married the love of his life, Yvonne Lynne Knight, in Torrance, California. Together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and purpose, raising three children who were-and remain-his greatest pride.

Jack was a graduate of San Pedro High School, where he maintained 100% attendance, a testament to his dedication and reliability. He began his career as a telephone technician for Pacific Bell and AT&T, later starting his own business, S&S Telecom. He also worked for Solar Turbines in San Diego. Jack served honorably in the United States Air Force beginning in July of 1958, completing four years of service to his country.

Outside of work, Jack's mind and heart were always engaged. An avid astronomer, he built his own telescopes to study the night sky. He loved photography, gardening, and was a certified Tai Chi instructor. His hands were often busy creating or collecting-whether building jewelry boxes, crafting pinewood derby cars for scouts, or adding to his stamp collection.

Jack's legacy lives on in those he loved most: his wife, Yvonne; children John Edward Strosnider (Leticia) of Tucson, AZ, Scott Alan Strosnider of La Quinta, CA, and Lynn Marie Nelson (Sean) of Salt Lake City, UT; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan Breed, brother Floyd Gerold "Jerry" Strosnider, and grandson Christopher Strosnider.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedarview Ward (1925 W. 320 S., Cedar City, UT). Viewings will be held Friday, August 22, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N. 300 W., Cedar City, UT), and again prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 9:30–10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at the Southern Utah National Cemetery on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
