Roger "Rod" Gregory, 80 of St. Helena Island, SC passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at Sea Island Presbyterian Church on April 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

A graveside service will follow at the Beaufort National Cemetery at 12:00 PM with military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps. Guests are kindly requested to arrive fifteen minutes prior to the service start time at the National Cemetery.

Rod was born on June 25, 1945, in Hazleton, Pa. to the late Lawence Gregory and the late Mildred Thomas Gregory. Rod was raised by his grandparents Bertha and Richard Thomas. He is preceded in death by both parents and grandparents, also two sons Michael and Mark Cansler.

He is survived by his wife Bea Gregory. Two sons Kevin Thurston, and Michael Gregory (Dorothy), two daughters Shawn Wolcott (Ron), Myla Mitchell (Johnny). Grandchildren Brooke Minton (Kevin), Malcolm Singleton (Elaine), Johnny Gregory (Elizabeth), Tony Wolcott (Hannah), Samatha Gregory, Brian Wolcott, Jordyn Linder (Deandre), Myles Mitchell. Eight greatgrandchildren Llewellen Gregory, Ezra Gregory, Kinzlee and Khali Minton, Tyson and Malela Singleton, Alex and Madeline Wolcott.

Rod spent 29 years serving his country, with two tours in Viet Nam. He received many awards including National Defense Service Award, Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Navy Unit Citation. His love for our country was one of his greatest assets. He loved the brotherhood and bond with his fellow Marine Brothers and Sisters.

After retirement he became an avid woodworker with many of his pieces donated to charity for fundraising and our church.
