Roderick Russell Jones, 73, of Fairmont, WV, departed this life on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home. He was born July 11, 1951, in Fairmont WV to the late Willis Wilber Jones,Sr.and the late Fannie Lucille Fortune Jones.
He attended Miller Elementary and Junior High School, and was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Class of 1969. He received his BS degree in Business Administration from Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV and a MBA degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon WV.
Rod was a faithful and dedicated lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as the Treasurer of Trustees, a trustee member, a member of PPRC, the Adult Fellowship Choir and the Administrative Board.
He retired from Monongahela Power Company as an accountant with 30 years of service. He was also a Contracted Accountant, and a Deputy Resident Assessor at the Marion County Assessor's Office.
He Served on The Board of Directors at Valley Health Care, chair of the Finance Committee and the Monongahela Valley Health Care Association as chair of Cooperate Compliance.
Rod loved reading, mowing the lawn, solving puzzles, watching sports and taking trips to South Carolina to spend time with his extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers, Willis Wilber Jones, Jr. and Michael Marlin Jones; and his aunt, Eileen Fortune.
Rod was a devoted, loving, and hardworking, husband and father. The precious memories of Rod will be forever cherished by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn G. Richardson Jones; his loving son Erick C. Jones; a special cousin Judy Lampkin Bussey (De'Andrea); special nephews Braydin Richardson and Aaron Parker Jr.; the gift of love, dedication, and compassion Rod shared will always be remembered by his brothers-in-law Henry L. Richardson (Blondell) and Don Richardson (Sharon); sisters-in law Angela R. Miller (Charlie), Sallie R. Parker (Eugene), Tamara Lynn Gilliard (Randall) and Julie Mazyck; additional cousins Stacy and Robin Davis, Adrianne and Courtney Moore, Jennifer and John Nelson and Michael and Ron Nuzum; special friends Robert and Dorothy Merchant; several nephews, Justin Richardson (Chasity), Aaron Parker (Joronda), Patrick Richardson (Paris), Shawn Richardson (Valerie), Chandler Gilliard, Brandon Richardson, Gerard Merchant (Michelle) and Chad Merchant; several nieces, Shena Trotter (John), Ashley Singleton (Taylor), Lacy Richardson, Katelin McElveen (Patrick), Simone Parker, Lauren Gilliard, Brandy Richardson, Courtney Howard (Rashad), Jessica Berry (Wilmont); nine grand nephews, eleven grand nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rod will be forever missed by his loving family, friends and co-workers. Rest in Paradise thy good and faithful servant!!!
Family and friends can pay their respects at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and at Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 07, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 407 Cleveland Avenue, Fairmont with Pastor Brad Bennett as officiant. Interment will follow the funeral service at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
