Roderick Lee Morrison

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Roderick Lee Morrison, at the age of 66, on October 25, 2025, while visiting family in Alaska.
Roderick was born on November 5, 1958, in Houston, Texas. As the son of a military man, he experienced a life filled with travel and adventure, living in places such as France and Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended Ben Eielson High School in Fairbanks, where he thrived in sports and became an active member of his community.
After high school, Roderick pursued a degree in music at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, where he met his first wife, Tammy Jones. They married in 1981 and started a family in Peters Creek, Alaska. During this time, Roderick worked on the North Slope and served as a First Responder, demonstrating his commitment to helping others.
Roderick proudly served in the United States Navy, specializing in electronics communications and radar technologies. Although a health condition forced him into early retirement, he embraced the opportunities of the tech boom, enjoying a successful career in telecommunications that took him from Norfolk, Virginia, to Perris, California.
Tragically, Roderick lost his first wife, Tammy, to breast cancer in 2005, a loss that profoundly impacted him. However, he found love again and remarried in 2008 to Denise Manual. Together, they created a warm and loving home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Roderick was known for his warm, welcoming presence, infectious laugh, and exceptional grilling skills. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel at home, and his generosity and humor left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He was a larger-than-life figure whose spirit touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.
Roderick is survived by his wife, Denise Morrison; his daughters, Jasmin and Keziah Morrison and Brittany Manual; his siblings, Zuriel Thompson and Donyale Escobar; and his cherished grandchildren, Maximus, Miles, Mason, and Love. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tammy Morrison; his mother, Betty Lou Thompson; and his grandmother, Ernestine Bratton.
A private viewing and celebration of life was held on October 31, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska. In honor of Roderick's memory, donations may be made to the Veterans Affairs (VA).
