Rodney Ray Druse, 90, of Minot, ND, passed away peacefully at his home on May 20, 2025.
Rodney was born on August 30, 1934 in Letcher, SD to Elmer and Virginia (Burrow) Druse. He grew up there and graduated from Letcher High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in active duty toward the end of the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. He earned the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He received a letter from the government of Taiwan thanking him for his service during that time. He was retired in August of 1994 at the rank of Technical Sergeant.
Rod was united in marriage to Beverley Ann Jensen on May 29, 1964 in Sioux Falls, SD, to whom he was married 50 years. They made their home on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota where he was a social worker and she was a teacher. The family moved to Minot in 1974 where he worked for Social Security, and later, as a custodian at the Ward County Courthouse until his retirement in 2006.
Rodney was a member of First Presbyterian Church - Minot and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), volunteering by driving veterans to the hospital in Fargo and other activities. He liked watching sports, old movies, playing board games with his family, camping, boating, and fishing, and being a grandpa. Daily, he enjoyed working out at the YMCA and reading at the Minot Public Library. He loved to travel and took his family all over the USA in a Winnebago during the summers, and also travelled to Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Rodney's loving family includes children Derek (Holly) Druse of Thief River Falls, MN; Damon (Mavis) Druse of Minot; Danielle Druse of Marble, MN; grandchildren Megan (Jordan) Foley and Devin Druse, both of Minot; great-grandchildren Oliver and Graham Foley; brother-in-law Frank Peters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
