Rodney Hommer

Rodney Duane Hommer, the son of Glendal Duane Hommer and Lynneth Louise (Lettington) Hommer, was born on July 22, 1960 in Osceola, Iowa. Rodney departed this life, surrounded by his family, on March 23, 2026 at CrestHaven Care Centre in Creston, Iowa. He was 65 years old.

Rodney lived in Humeston, Iowa where he attended school at Mormon Trail until 1975 when his family moved to Osceola, Iowa. Rodney remained in the Osceola area for much of his adult life.

Rodney married Gina Lynne Smith on December 27, 1986. This this union, they welcomed three children: Tori, Reva and Justin. Rodney enjoyed cooking, hunting and gardening when he was able. He also had a love for old Rock and Roll music, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ozzy Osborne and The Doors were among his favorites.

Those relatives who preceded Rodney in death were his father Glendal, mother Lynneth, brother Timothy and brothers-in-law Jon Jackson and John Shackelford.

Left to cherish Rodney’s memory are his daughter Tori (Jesse) Heilman, daughter Reva (Skyler) Hommer, son Justin (Haylie) Hommer; his grandchildren Trinity, Johnathon, Colt, Rollie, Kierstin and Lilly; and his great-granddaughter Ivy. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Gina; sisters Cathy, Twyla and Dienda; his brother-in-law Ron; sister-in-law Cindy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rodney was cremated and Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
