Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallace & Wallace Inc Funeral Chapels & Crematory - Rainelle on Jan. 8, 2026.
Rodney Nutter, 65, of Nutterville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Born on May 26, 1960, Rodney was the son of Don Nutter and Elma Lou McMann-Nutter. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Don Nutter; brother, Brian Nutter; and brother-in-law, Darrell Moore.
Rodney was a logger and coal miner by trade; however, his true calling was ministry. After answering the call to serve the Lord, he spent more than 42 years dedicated to sharing the Gospel and later pastoring the Nutterville Apostolic Church. Rodney approached ministry with humility and a genuine love for people. He was known for his gentle spirit, steady faith, and ability to lift others up even in their darkest moments. His legacy will continue through the many souls he encouraged, the families he comforted, and the lifelong relationships he built within the community.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Nutter; his mother, Elma Lou McMann-Nutter; two sons, Don Nutter (Susan) and James Nutter (Stacey); and his beloved daughter, Nancy B. Nutter (Bronson). He is also survived by six grandchildren-Miranda, Emma, Zach, Bella, Jessica, and Sarah-and six great-grandchildren: Stephen, Waylon, Oaklynn, Cameron, Cole, and Case. Additional survivors include two brothers, Wesley Nutter (Robin) and Shawn Nutter (Cindy); four sisters, Shelia Amick (Jimmy), Kathy Boley (Sam), Jeannie Slusser (Frank), and Donna Pence (Bill); mother-in-law, Nina Moore; brother-in-law, Timmy Moore (Jessica); and sister-in-law, Kim Moore; along with a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Services will be held on Monday, January, 12, 2026 at 1:00 at the Nutterville Apostolic Church in Nallen, WV with burial to follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Quinwood, WV. Visitation will be from 12:00 until time of service at the church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Felix Baker, Pastor Rick Keener, Pastor Wesley Nutter, and Pastor David Kincaid.
Rodney will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to his community, and his deep love for his family.
