Rodney David Owens, 72, of Grove City, Ohio, and formerly of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his residence. He was born April 2, 1953, in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972 to 1975. He built a long and successful career in the printing industry, beginning as a pressman and eventually advancing to General Manager.
From an early age, Rodney found joy in exploring the fields of Oak Harbor in search of Native American arrowheads and artifacts. In his younger years, he also enjoyed riding motorcycles. A man of steadfast faith, Rodney treasured his Bible and drew comfort and peace from quiet moments shared with his beloved wife, Cheryl. Together, Rodney and Cheryl created many cherished memories while traveling and experiencing new places side by side.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (Benson) Owens; stepdaughter, Traci (Brian) Gentry; daughter, Mitzy (Stacy) Oliver; son, Michael (Gernez) Owens; grandson, Tony Ross Jr; granddaughters, Mikayla Ross and Lia Owens; great-grandson, Tyler Ross; brothers Frederick, Robert (Diane) Owens and John (Lucretia) Owens; sisters, Patricia (Chip) McManus and Candy Zunk; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace (Decker) Bays; stepfather, Lionel Bays; wife, Tok Nan Owens; daughter, Tonya Owens; brother, Lionel Bays Jr; and sisters, Carol Grose, Penney Bays, and Joan Arquette.
Funeral services for Rodney will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water Street, Oak Harbor, Ohio, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with military graveside honors.
