Rodrigo Garcia, Jr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodrigo Garcia Jr., who went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2025. Rod was born on April 6, 1936, in Santa Maria Ranch, Star County, Texas.
Throughout his life, Rod was known for his kindness, dedication to family, passion for fishing with his grandchildren, and his love for the casino. As a young man, Rod lived in Navasota, Texas, where he married Luisa, served proudly in the U.S. Army, and began raising a family. In 1964, he moved his family to El Paso, Texas, where he started a new career at the White Sands Missile Range. Rod and Luisa continued to cherish their home long after his retirement.
Rod is survived by his children: Sylvia Young, Teresa Palmer, Rafael Garcia, Rodrigo (Robert) Garcia, and Juanita (Janie) Warrington, along with 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Luisa Garcia, his daughter, Cynthia Garcia, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Rod will be remembered fondly for his service to the Lord, devotion to family, compassion, kindness, generosity, and self-sacrificing nature. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, an organization that brought him great pride and fellowship. His legacy of love, strength, and faith lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Knights of Columbus at Christ the Savior Catholic Church. Visitation will begin from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. A Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 01, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 11:00 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Please visit his online memorial at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
