Rogelio Chavez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by San Jose Funeral Home - Eastside on Feb. 7, 2026.

Our beloved father was born in El Paso, Texas, on November 15, 1929. He lived a life marked by strength, sacrifice, humility, and deep faith.

From a young age, he took care of his mother and brother, working tirelessly to support them. As a single parent, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to raising his five children on his own. He was firm and tough, yet always guided by strong morals and virtues. He worked as much as he could to provide for his family and cared for his children in every way he could. One of his greatest acts of love was cooking all of their meals, becoming a wonderful cook out of necessity and dedication.

Throughout his life, he faced and overcame many battles with courage and perseverance. He was a firm believer in forgiveness, lived without judgment, and was always willing to help others whenever he was able. He lived simply, uninterested in luxury, choosing instead a life rich in integrity, generosity, and humility.

He loved to dance and carried joy in his heart. One of his fondest memories from his younger years was being a matachín, an expression of his devotion and faith that remained meaningful to him throughout his life. He believed in God and held a special love and devotion for Mary, the mother of Jesus.

He was an outstanding man who was deeply loved by his sons and daughters, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and friends. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the love he quietly shared, and the example he set for all who knew him.

He will be remembered always with love, gratitude, and respect.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Guardian Angel Catholic Church in his honor.
