Roger Abare Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Service on Dec. 1, 2025.
Roger W. Abare passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2025. Born in North Ferrisburgh, Vermont, Roger lived a full and spirited life marked by humor, and an unforgettable presence.
Roger proudly served his country as a World War II veteran. His strength, resilience, and deep sense of loyalty carried far beyond his military years and remained central to the way he lived his life.
Roger was well known for his warm personality and the sayings that became part of his identity-most famously, "everything is peachy" and his trademark, "golly, golly, golly." He brought joy wherever he went and had a remarkable ability to make people smile.
He had many passions, including cars and racing at Catamount Speedway in Milton. He loved fishing, dancing, and being surrounded by family and friends. Wherever Roger was, laughter was sure to follow, and more often than not, he found himself at the center of the celebration.
Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marion; his parents, Anna and William; his son, David; his brother, Ed; and sisters Helen, Pearl, and Connie.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Ruppel and her husband Jay, and Doreen Allison and her husband Peter. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Liane Zivitski and her husband Rob Martin, Sarah Zivitski, Michael Ruppel, Patrick Ruppel, and his sister Ruth Pierce as well as several nieces and nephews who will fondly carry forward his memory.
Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his humor, kindness, and zest for life will remain cherished in the hearts of those he touched.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Roger Abare to the Massachusetts General Hospital for Pancreatic Care and Research, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114, or online at https://giving.massgeneral.org/donate.
