Roger Lee Cookson, age 82, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in the same serene town where he was born on September 11, 1943. He lived a life characterized by diligent work, devotion to his loved ones, and an unshakable faith. He is survived by his daughters, Misty (Robert) Boehmer and Melanie Glisson. Roger's legacy also lives on through his grandchildren, Jessica Boehmer, Jennifer Boehmer, Tyler Glisson and Trevor Glisson. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren Roger's sisters, Jacquelyn Lambert, Barbara Jordan, Roberta Ogle, and Brenda England, will fondly recall memories of their brother, . He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Cookson, and his sisters, Betty Bowers and Carolyn Compton, who welcomed him into eternal rest with open arms. Throughout his life, Roger dedicated many years of hard work in golf course maintenance, where his care for detail and natural surroundings were evident to all who enjoyed the fruits of his labor. His professional dedication was only surpassed by his commitment to his faith as a member of The Rock Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory with Pastor Brian Buterbaugh officiating with the visitation beginning at Noon. He will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery with his parents at a later date. As we bid farewell to Roger, we take solace in a life well-lived and in the countless memories he has left behind. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Roger Lee Cookson will be profoundly missed and ever remembered. His spirit, characterized by generosity and kindness, will forever inspire those who were fortunate to have been a part of his journey through life.
