Roger Crerie Obituary
Roger Crerie, age 53, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on June 16, 1972, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Roger was a fun and easy going guy whose presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Roger proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a veteran of the First Gulf War. Following his service, he pursued higher education first at Worcester State and then Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Professionally, Roger worked as a software engineer for companies such as Sun Microsystems, Hitachi and Nectar Services. He worked on everything from embedded systems to front ends and mostly in Java, his favorite language.
Two of the happiest days for Roger were the two days each of his amazing daughters were born. Together with their toy poodles, Malley and Devlin, they were his family.
Roger was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for music, particularly metal and rock, and spent countless hours playing his many guitars. A nationally ranked foosball player, Roger enjoyed competing in tournaments, showcasing his competitive spirit and skill. His love of the sun, warmth, and ocean often found him at the beach, where he delighted in boogie boarding. Roger also enjoyed soccer and ice hockey and never missed a World Cup and definitely never missed a Boston Bruins game.
Roger is survived by his loving spouse, Virginia, and their two cherished daughters. His two nieces, his sister Tammy Cox and spouse Michael. His father, Don and spouse Dora. His mother, Ginger and spouse Richard. Along with his aunts, many cousins and extended family, they will carry his memory in their hearts.
A small gathering to remember and celebrate Roger's life will be held, with dates and times to be determined. In this intimate setting, family and friends will share memories and honor the legacy of a man who brought joy and warmth to so many lives.
Roger's kindness, humor, and love will be remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace, embraced by the eternal light of the sun and warmth he loved so dearly.
