On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, Roger A. Dickner, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 86. Roger was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, where he was raised by his parents Raymond Dickner and Cora Beaulieu Dickner, along with his younger brother, Emil “Dick” Dickner. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ between 1954-1958. After meeting on a blind date, he and Kay L. Monson eloped to Las Vegas in 1963 and were married for 59 years. He is survived by his wife and four children: Diane, Richard, Michael & Susan; five grandchildren: Tawna, Emma, Alexa, Ryan & Morgan and two great-grandchildren: Rachel & Maverick.
Roger was one of the hardest working people the world has seen. Whether it was finishing his college degree the same year his fourth child was born, maintaining his mother-in-law’s house next door, working evenings and weekends at the ice skating rink so his kids could take lessons, helping with Boy Scouts and teaching gun safety classes, attending every high school game, or coaching girls soccer for 38+ years, Roger seemed to have endless energy to help support others.
While he spent most of his career in the private sector, Roger was very proud of his military service and enjoyed taking his kids to tour the base and watch the Blue Angels. After 40 years at Motorola Semi-Conductor, Roger retired. However, his life didn’t slow down. He enjoyed many trips to Europe to visit his eldest daughter and granddaughters, he loved going to the gym (likely to socialize rather than workout), and continued to enjoy thrill rides, movies and organizing / tinkering around the house.
Roger lived a very full life and his fantastic stories will be missed dearly. On Monday, March 20, 2023 between 2:30-3pm a memorial service will be held at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Cave Creek Road. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Elks Lodge at 14424 N 32nd St., Phoenix, AZ 85032. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Youth Soccer Organization at: https://ayso.org/donate-to-ayso/.

I am so so sorry to hear of Roger´s passing...He and his family were a part of my life for many years at the Metrocenter ice rink. He and Kay worked faithfully at the rink and it was always a good day to see them. By happenstance, Roger became my daughter´s soccer coach many years later and what a great coach he was!
To the entire Dickner family, I am so honored to have had all of you in my life and Roger will be dearly missed
Sincerely ,
Lori Wilder
