Mr. Roger Dean Evans, 60, of Sylvania, Georgia, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born on October 4, 1965, in Winter Haven, Florida, to Thomas Fredrick Evans and Hedwig Kramer Evans. He was raised in Sylvania, Georgia, and was known throughout the community for his hard work, generosity, and unwavering dependability. Roger was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Roger owned and operated his own company, Evans Welding, where he applied his exceptional skills in welding, mechanical work, and painting of vehicles. He was known for his skilled hands and patient craftsmanship. To many, he was known as a “jack of many trades.”
Roger found joy in the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and spending peaceful moments on the porch watching the birds. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. Most of all he loved Jesus, his family and friends, as well as his loyal dog Izzy. He had a warm spirit, a giving heart, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. Roger was a member of Double Heads Baptist Church, where he married his beautiful wife, Tasha.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Evans and a brother Hans Evans.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Tasha Thompson Evans; children, Chelsea Widener, Candace (Russell) Deloach, and Carissa Widener; his mother, Hedwig Evans; siblings, Monika Pittman, Martha Burke, and Billy Evans; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Anderson, Tommy Bell, Chucky Brannen, Marshall Brownlee, Russell DeLoach, Billy Evans, Justin Evans, Mac Gignilliat, James Jacobs, Stevie Lewis, Curtis McCullough, John Mills, Elliott Rice, Mike Rowe, Bubba Williams, Tim Williams, and Tommy Williams.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Thompson Strickland Waters, Joiner Anderson Chapel.
